Strategic Hires for an Engineering and General Contracting Staffing Firm

A staffing firm specializing in engineering and general contracting positions in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. The firm’s expertise spans roles from Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to Heads of Engineering and Chief Engineers. Their focus on high-caliber talent has made them a trusted partner for clients in these technical fields, and they saw an opportunity to expand their team to win new business.

Scope

The firm engaged us to recruit a Senior Consultant, an individual contributor responsible for business development and account management. The ideal candidate profile included:

  • At least two years of client-facing/account management experience

  • Proven success in building a book of business and signing new clients

  • Alignment with the firm’s values and growth mindset

  • Fully remote opportunity

This position required someone capable of managing existing accounts while actively driving new business opportunities.

Solution

We combined a focused search strategy with robust marketing support to address the client's needs. Our marketing team played a crucial role in this initiative by generating responses from monthly content designed to nurture a pool of A-star candidates. Through consistent outreach efforts and tailored messaging, we engaged passive candidates who would typically respond to roles only after seeing such campaigns and when the time was right for them to move.

These efforts provided an excellent initial shortlist where we could employ a rigorous qualification process to ensure candidates aligned with the client’s values. This involved in-depth behavioral interviews and situational assessments to evaluate how candidates demonstrated traits associated with how the client operates and assessed their current situation. By aligning these evaluations with the client, we identified individuals who were skilled and value-driven contributors.

Results

Our combined efforts yielded impressive results, seeing our client hire 2 of the presented candidates when initially only briefing us for one position.

  • 6 candidates presented

  • 5 candidates interviewed

  • 2 successful placements
